The vehicles comprise eighty (80) single cabs, forty four (44) land cruisers, four (4) coaster mini buses, three (3) 72 seater buses, two (2) Toyota Hiace mini buses, twenty one (21) Toyota Hilux (2.5 litres) double cabs, thirty three (33) Nissan diesel ten tonne trucks, eight (8) Toyota corolla saloon cars and ten (10) tractors.
Speaking when he presented part of the fleet to user departments at Head Office workshops in Lusaka on 12th June 2012, Managing Director Mr. Cyprian Chitundu said the vehicles were bought to enhance service delivery.

“The corporation has set objectives aimed at meeting customer and stakeholder expectations in the supply of quality and reliable electricity. One critical resource that is required to achieve this important objective is reliable transport.” noted Mr. Chitundu.

He said the reliable transport would improve the operational efficiency and service delivery to the customers in addition to motivating the employees to work hard enough to turn the power utility into a company capable of delivering efficient customer service.

He expressed gratitude that the company spent in excess of K66 billion to buy the vehicles this year alone which was a demonstration of how much the company was committed to customer satisfaction.

He, however, cautioned drivers to look after the vehicles properly saying management was concerned at the increasing number of accidents in the corporation to the detriment of efficient service delivery.

Mr. Chitundu announced some deterrent measures against poor driving habits by some irresponsible drivers which included; revoking of the ZESCO authority to drive corporation vehicles, reinforcing of the transport policy and charging drivers for any abuse of the vehicles.

The power stations that received the new vehicles were Kafue Gorge, Kariba North Bank and Victoria Falls power stations. Other beneficiaries were Lusaka, Northern, Southern, Copperbelt and Construction Divisions. Among the departments were Demand Side Management (DSM), Information Systems (IT) and Transmission-North.
