Beware of Forged Purchase Orders (POS), Contracts, Request for Quotations (RFQS) and Bidding Documents

The general public is strongly warned not to be lured or misled by CYBER FRAUD CRIMINALS who through internet are posing as intermediary agents, individuals, companies, consortiums of ZESCO who are claiming to be issuing Purchase Orders (POs), Contracts, Request for Quotations (RFQs) and Bidding Documents to unsuspecting customers purported to have originated from ZESCO.

It has further come to the attention of ZESCO that there are a number of unscrupulous agents, individuals, companies, consortiums who have teamed up in cyber space using internet to issue forged Request for Quotations (RFQs), Bidding Documents, Contracts and Purchase Orders (POs) purported to have originated from ZESCO. In this scheme of events, the perpetrators of cybercrime have even gone a step further by fraudulently using what appears to be authentic signatures and names of ZESCO authorizing officers.

In an effort to avoid any likely loss of money, ZESCO wishes to warn its esteemed customers to always be alert of these phishing schemes and verify authenticity of the agents, individuals, companies, consortiums before dealing with them by undertaking due diligence on any transactions or documents presented to them purported to have originated from ZESCO Procurement and Stores Division which in most cases include demand for claim of payments to either individuals or organisations for services rendered.

ZESCO further wishes to inform all its customers that intend to undertake business with the corporation, to directly engage ZESCO in such transactions except in circumstances of duly approved assignment of receivables and subcontracting between or amongst parties sanctioned by ZESCO. Consequently, ZESCO wishes to warn its esteemed customers to be wary of any self-acclaimed agents who demand to sell them Request for Quotations (RFQs), Bidding Documents, Contracts and Purchase Orders (POs) that no such transactions are permitted by law. ZESCO wishes to categorically deny any use or engagement of agents or otherwise to undertake such transactions which are directly offered by the company to its esteemed customers.

The general public is therefore warned and advised in their own interest to desist from dealing with any individuals or companies claiming to represent ZESCO in any business transactions. Where our esteemed customers are in doubt, they should directly engage ZESCO on the following lines given below for clarification of authenticity of transactions. Further, the general public are advised to report such cases to ZESCO Security Services or the nearest Police Station for further action.

ZESCO shall not be held responsible or liable for any special, direct, indirect, consequential or incidental damage or any damages whatsoever, whether in action of contract or negligence arising out of use of forged documents. Furthermore, the general public is warned and advised to seek appropriate guidance regarding any documents purported to have originated from ZESCO by any third parties as they may fall victims of cybercrime fraud.
