
2,400MW OF RENEWABLE ENERGY TO BE INTEGRATED INTO THE NATIONAL GRID BY DECEMBER 2024
Zambia, through ZESCO Limited has signed a US$3.4 Billion Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with INTEGRATED CLEAN ENERGY POWER COMPANY of China to produce 2, 400 mega Watts of renewable energy. Implementation of the project will be done in a phased manner with Phase 1 producing 600MW of solar energy distributed 1x 300MW power plant in Central and 1 x 300MW Power plant in Southern provinces. The 2 x 300MW power plants of phase 1 are expected to be connected to the National Grid by the end of next year. The signing ceremony took place yesterday at the ZESCO Head Office in Lusaka. The two partners were represented by Eng Victor. B. Mapani, MD ZESCO LTD and Mr. Yong Chi, Executive Director, Integrated Clean Energy Power Company.
