Each year, ZESCO makes a tireless commitment to sponsor traditional ceremonies as those events belong to all of us. They provide us an opportunity to relate, learn, appreciate and celebrate Zambia's rich heritage that depict characteristics of its people. The ceremonies also contribute to bringing people from different parts of the country and beyond to reconnect as family and friends. In regard to this, ZESCO believes that the company should plough back part of the returns to the communities and groups especially in the grassroots where ZESCO implements its electrification projects. The Corporation gives back in form of financial and material support.
ZESCO spent over K40 Million, to rehabilitate and upgrade Siavonga High School, originally constructed by Kariba North Bank Company Limited (KNB) in 1999. Siavonga district only has four High Schools, thirty-three basic schools and nine community schools which are all day schools, with limited infrastructure.
As a part of its Corporate Social Investment initiative, Kafue Gorge Lower Power Development Corporation Limited has built Chasunta Secondary School, a boarding school designed to accommodate up to 500 learners. This institution is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories to enhance modern learning and skill development. The corporation is set to hand over the school to the Zambian government, aiming for its official opening to students by the 2024 school year.
